Patrick’s practice emphasizes corporate, securities, financing, licensing and merger and acquisition advice to technology and emerging growth companies. Patrick has extensive industry experience in semiconductors (both equipment and device side), data storage, software, networking, biotech and telecommunications.
Over the course of his career, Patrick has negotiated and closed many complex, high-dollar value merger and acquisition transactions between public and private companies, both domestic and international. Some of Patrick's representative M&A transactions include:
In addition to his extensive merger and acquisition activities, Patrick handled the initial public offerings and/or follow on offerings for Smith Micro Software, Inc., Systemed, Inc., Interpore International Inc. (underwriters), Laser Precision Corporation, Linear Instruments Corporation, ATL Products, Inc., Newport Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Pinnacle Micro, Inc. (underwriters), Mobot Corporation, Tape Specialty, Inc., Radiant Technology Corporation, Verteq, Inc., Ansys Diagnostics, Inc., and limited representation as review partner on initial public offerings of RightNow Technologies, Inc., Buy.com, Broadcom Corporation, Accelerated Networks, Inc. and many others.
Prior to joining Fortis General Counsel, Patrick most recently was a Partner at Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. Prior to that, Patrick was a Partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP, where he was the head of the Orange County Business & Technology Group, and was a Partner at Rutan & Tucker. He has also been a member of the Boards of Directors of such public companies as Systemed, Inc., Laser Precision Corporation, and Proxima Corporation, as well as those of several privately held venture financed technology companies.
