Sue's practice focuses on technology transactions and product counseling for mature and emerging technology companies, with specific expertise in the internet, communications, and web 2.0 industries. Examples of transactions include licensing, software, advertising, marketing and co-promotion, integration, service provider, and strategic partnership agreements. Examples of product counseling include advising on initial product launches, product integrations with third party services, and API licensing and developer programs.

Before joining Fortis General Counsel in 2008, Sue spent over five years as in-house counsel at Yahoo! Inc., most recently as Senior Legal Director, where she negotiated a wide variety of licensing and commercial agreements and provided business and product counseling. Sue had primary responsibility for many critical products, including the Yahoo! Home Page, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, My Yahoo!, Yahoo! Toolbar and the Yahoo! Developer Network. Other businesses supported include communications, communities, social networking, developer/API programs, e-commerce, small business, software, and enterprise.

Before Yahoo!, Sue was in private practice at a Silicon Valley corporate law firm, where she performed corporate, financing, and technology transactions work for high-tech emerging growth companies in Silicon Valley.

Prior to law school, Sue worked in the molecular biology and immunology research fields at U.C. San Francisco and Protein Design Labs, Inc.
